With each new day comes new strength and new thoughts!

My name is Kamilya Al Lamki and it is my great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Principal at Knowledge Gate International School (KGIS).  I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference for the children at our school and appreciate the opportunity to briefly share with you my history and commitment.

My background in education spans over twenty years and began in Texas where, after several years of teaching, I transitioned into administration.  While in administration, I was responsible for 17 middle schools, as the assistant to the area Superintendent, and have served in positions of Assistant Principal of a middle school, Principal of an elementary and Principal of a secondary school.  Throughout my career I have supported and served on the board of directors for various schools included that of our neighbour, the Sultan’s School.  I have made it my personal goal, and share this in my own family, to always serve education in some form or fashion and support schools when possible.  My Doctorate coupled with this enriching journey, including the challenges and rewards, have provided me with a broad perspective of which I will draw upon to add value to my work at KGIS.

The 2015-2016 school year promises to be a year full of engaging, meaningful and rigorous learning in our classrooms.  In addition, with fun and special times through various extracurricular activities, performing arts groups, sports teams and other events, your child will be provided and have access to a well-rounded school experience.

I strongly believe that communication between the home and school plays a vital and integral role in every child’s success, so please do not hesitate to make contact if and when the need arises.

We want and encourage our KGIS families to stay abreast of their child’s studies and activities.  We invite you to work in partnership with us to take advantage of these opportunities.

My aim is to fulfill KGIS motto – Excellence in Education.  I plan to embrace the challenges of the future while we continue to cherish and celebrate the traditions of the past.  Together, our remarkable staff, involved parents and committed students can work harmoniously to make KGIS a wonderful and unique place.I will be discussing more on this over the course of the year the but the first on my agenda is to meet all the members of the school’s community, assess where we are today and set the path to fulfilling our goals.

I look forward to an extraordinary year at KGIS.  It takes collaboration for us to be successful. With your help, we can make this the best year ever, by working together for the good of our students.  Here’s to the 2015-2016 school year and the belief that, in the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, “With each new day comes new strength and new thoughts.”
